RECFAM produces organic and biodegradable sanitary pads – PRIDE Pads – out of banana and plantain fibre for schoolgirls and women. Women are integrated into the whole value chain, receiving training and income opportunities.


Over 170,000 Ghanaian girls are forced into marriages before 18yrs
Per the report released in July, at least about one in every four girls marry prior to their 18th birthday in most part of the country.
The Nkwanta North and South districts topped the district distribution in the Volta region with 55 and 23 per cent respectively as against the nine per cent recorded by the remaining districts in the country.
Parents Asked To Seek Welfare Of Children
The Foundation for African Migrants (RECFAM) a non-governmental organisation has appealed to parents to seek the welfare and security of children especially girls instead of forcing them into early marriages.
Mr Alfred Mbinglo, Director for Research and Counseling, RECFAM, noted that children as young as ten years had been pushed into early or forced marriages, depriving them of their rights to education and dignity.

RECFAM has launched creative synergy innovations with regional affiliated organizations in nine (9) ECOWAS countries on the impact of COVID-19 on migration and mobility to identify and replicate best practical protection on migrants/refugees towards national/transnational development. The regional affiliated organizations are in Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali, The Gambia and still counting.
